No "dishreshpect" but...were there what - 50? 100 of the RM's made? So only 100 people max should ever enjoy having a figure of a character they like in thier collection at any given time? RM sells headsculpts - for what? Fingerpuppets?

CK/Iris is garbage now? Spending $500-600 on a figure bash isn't enough? Even people who drive Maseratis don't bash those driving a top-of-the-line Mercedes. Maybe there are subtle differences and better features, but quality is quality. Trashing people for spending good money with a quality producer just beacuse it's not (arguably) the BEST ever available - especially to thier "faces" within the order thread is kind of in poor taste don't you think?

What I do care about is that you are trying to copy Rainmans, to the extent of comparing fabrics, buttons, lengths, colors, and sizing to his. its sad as ****, be original, and someone sculpt a new head for your outfit.

I'm not interested in having **** on my shelf that all i can say about is: "yeah, i saved money on that".

Can we bring this into some real-world perspective? We're talking about clothes...for dolls. I like these figures too, a lot. And yes I describe/explain them to the other 98.9% of the non-understanding world as "works of art". But let's get real and say that many people here are spending more money on a set of clothes for thier doll than they would on an outfit for themselves.

People who own original Manet's don't look at your original Picasso sketch and say "why wouldn't you just spend another $700k and get some REAL art?" Not if they have any class anyway. And let's not equate this stuff with that level of art anyway.

Even human-sized high-level designer clothing is being - very well - replicated now. You can't expect that if someone gets something right in the past that it's not going to be copied in the future.

When I got back into this hobby I was fully aware that higher-end/higher-priced figures existed. I didn't think I would get into them but I have. But just because i have the means to spend stupid STUPID amounts of money on plastic action figures of MAINLY "men with guns/weapons" I would never judge someone for loving thier Self-repainted Sideshow Obi-Wan or especially someone trying to replicate a $1700 "doll" by ONLY spending $600.

Go buy the original, why wouldnt you? yunsil is far superior to iris, and it is an original product from a full release., this bash will cost you $600 + anyways, why not spend 1500 on the original ur basing it off.

So sad watching these so called "collectors" go through the entire Rainman head restock and try to replicate something that can't be touched and comparing them like it's even close. It's so corny imo. I waited over a year before I got the OPPORTUNITY to buy his Anton and every time I see it in my cabinet it means more to me than just having a figure in my collection from No Country From Old Men. Authentic collectors are hard to find. Especially these days. New guys think custom figures come in kits now and it's sad. Bashing Anton with Lees head is fine, just don't compare to the original because it's embarrassing. Especially when you're using Lees work as a template. LastLy....defiantly not a smart investment buying bashes or clothing sets. You'll be lucky to get ur money back. 100% fact. There's a learning curve to this and the new guys are being misinformed by a few bottom feeders. Do ur homework kiddies

Make no mistake, Kstarke, they're trashing you as well for not saving up 3x as much and waiting who-knows-how-long for someone to decide to sell their Rainman original (possibly for the #1 reason seen in the sale board: financial issues) and buy that instead of your poor $500-600 imitation/rip-off of an unlicensed likeness which includes the sculpt still sold by the guy that made theirs.

Stop changing iris' work to look more like yunsils, let her make the outfit with the references she has from the FILM, and go with it. do not use yunsils as ur guide, its sad and unoriginal and it makes me feel bad for anyone who cant see what is being done.

Yeah I don't think I'm taking that out of context or missing your point. Nor am I missing that you're coping a superior attitude about an action figure.

And if anyone is really looking at these as investments and not just as a fun hobby, I urge you to talk a financial planner. I'm betting #1,264 on the list of good investments MIGHT be custom movie figures. First edition books, rare stamps/coins,classic cars, antique furniture, carnival glass, Hummels, hell, even Beanie Babies might still be better investments!

Tell me that a good many of the people that got RM's Bickle aren't buying into Rob's recently commissioned sculpt to replace the marginal one that came with the original set. I've already seen people talking about the paint changes and improvements that need to be made to the Dracula set to make that perfect. Make no mistake - this hobby is all about "fixing/bashing" no matter how much you originally spent.

You got an original. With the certificate to prove it. There will always be someone who will want that. Be happy with that. But someone reproducing small clothing does not equate to someone trying to kit-build a '64 Aston Martin or reproduce a Pollock - you CAN come pretty close and possibly do a BETTER job reproducing existing clothing/objects by learning from the successes and failures of the previous versions. It still won't be an original RM/CK, etc. so why feel threatened? A woman wants to buy and $8k Versace dress? Fine, but don't cry like a b***h when another woman walks in with a pretty decent knock-off from H&M that she got for $150.

I do not care about the value of my pieces, i do not care about resale, i do not, have not and will not sell my rainman figures - and if the day came that i did for whatever reason that may be - I would sell them for what i paid - regardless if they went up or down. In the grand scheme of my life what ive spent on my figures is nothing compared to say - my house - my cars - my living. it is drastically minute. reselling them is pointless it would give me a couple thousand dollars. thats not an option.

and to say this hobby is all about customizing is really ****ing stupid and ignorant.

thats like saying art is all about customizing. So we should fix picassos pieces and repaint the mona lisa so theyre more realistic? I dare you to come into my house and change my artwork. if you buy it from me and want to change it yourself you're welcome to, but as an artist it is not at all what i intend when i sell something complete. You are altering my artistic interpretation.

This is fine art. not toys. when you spend this much and display it in a sealed case with a certificate of authenticy from an artist, it is something completely different.

that is where you are lost. as I've said a thousand times, you can make Anton ALL YOU WANT. just don't try to reason your way out of the bottom line fact - which is you are impatient - and want to save money - to have the character. Otherwise, you wouldnt use yunsils as a target (since hers is available u just have to try. Theres like 15 people getting this clothing set - I honestly dont think its that crazy to assume a good portion of those could attain an Anton with the right bargaining skills and patience).

I know someone who just got an Anton recently, after waiting for over 3 years, knowing damn well this thread was here. he waited, he found one, he paid to get it , and its his. is there no fun for you in trying to do that?

And i will ***** out anyone copying or stealing others work. I'll never support it and call me an elitist all you want it's just how i am, i respect the **** out of what i invest into and all the the living artists in this world that make the artwork YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO REPLICATE BIT BY BIT.

Originality goes a long way in making a lasting impression.

I waited 2 years to finally get my Anton. can you not wait? and if you cant, can you please stop using yunsils as the main example and target to reach. its really pathetic. use the film, yunsils honestly isnt even that accurate to the film - it just all came together beautifully. work of art. Original.

but for real, it is clear what is going on here and super sad that you guys use any excuse except the main ones.

Crm toys did bickle, delarge and Torrance before Rainman did. Brother productions also made Anton First. Spencer did Dracula.... Velvet morning did butcher.... You speak of copying yet Rainman wasn't the first artist to tackle these and he certainly won't be the last. Keep the version you love most and move on.

Thanks everyone for spending your collective time comparing fabric swatches to the images of the ORIGINAL film clothing. And for counting buttons and making sure they were in the right place and doing research on the pants style.

Thanks Abarbarian for spending time to put this together, but I really think we should scrap it all and make an original Anton. Maybe with a printed Hawaiian shirt, striped bell bottoms (or maybe shorts - we don't want to copy the length that RM measured). And instead of the air bolt gun (because, I mean, it's been done...so played!) let's go with, say...a pinwheel.

We really SHOULD respect the artists. You know, not the artist who's likeness we're using or the artists who created and own the copyright to the film and character we're infringing on. But the artists who copied them ORIGINALLY without obtaining expensive licensing - we should DEFINITELY respect them and drop this whole thing.

For the record, I went through this entire thread and - aside from the occasional accusation/bi*ch there is nothing about anyone wanting anything to look more like Yunsil's set. Every image is of the movie clothes or the current set. Discussion about changes to the prototype, not how it didn't look like Yunsil's. People were given a choice as to materials - they didn't just send the RM clothes to Iris and say "copy these". It's not armor, it's a godd*mn shirt, pants and jacket. A seamstress who's done as much as Iris doesn't need to copy even a pattern for this.

And "lack of respect" toward you? You posted first on this thread by bashing everyone involved. What's to respect? You opened yourself up to it, friend-o.

Sorry I've helped hijack this thread. I've just been seeing a lot of trashing within this hobby lately (or maybe it's been going on and I've just noticed it lately). Trashing artists for daring to offer something up that isn't up to one person's standards. Shaming people for not spending enough on a figure or a high-quality accessory, etc. Or trashing people new to the hobby for wanting to put together a quality version of a figure that's "been done".

I buy high-end complete customs - I have $2k in pre-orders right now. And I love them (they are NOT without flaws and things I want to fix however). But if someone just bought CK's Max sculpt and wanted to bash thier own with accessories from Robbie and a gun from Fullmetal and a clothes set from GeeWhiz...go for it! Maybe it will look better than my $900 version - good for you! You know what takes patience? Putting something like that together. Hunting down parts or starting a thread like this to co-ordinate with others to get them. Brag coming - I make a very good living. If i liked Dracula, I could have bought the RM DX set without thnking about it too much. Plunking down a chunk of change is easy. For me, for you maybe, but not for everyone who'd like to be involved in this hobby and just wants to represent their favorite movie on the shelf of their nerd-room.

Enjoy you're certified RM set. As I said - directly addressing what you're saying - for the forseeable future there will be people who want nothing but that, but don't trash those who want something similar for less than a grand.

Getting this outfit is not a matter of patience. It's not about waiting for an Anton to turn up. If I wanted one.... I would get one. I am just being sensible. I know the head needs a redo and work. I am not going to blow 3+ thousand dollars to get a figure that needs extensive surgery. You guys think everyone is out to copy Rainman, it's just not the case. I'm in this to do my own thing.

From what I understand, Iris was sent film stills at the beginning of this project provided by many people around here. Any comparisons to the yunsil outfit were made later and I think it was over the button size.

Bottom line is...if you are happy with the figure you have, why even waste time in this thread? Rainman sells his heads, so some people will use them. If that's an issue take it up with him.

Rob I posted 1 picture of the shirt to illustrate how the 'hot pix' buttons would look rather than the huge man size buttons Iris was proposing. No other element of yunsils clothing set was EVER used, go back through the pages and you will see we have all chipped in with screen accurate images from the movie.

As stated before Lee/yunsil have not been the first artists to take on anton, bickle, delarge, torrance or drac and here you fanboys are slating us because we want Iris take on the clothing set. The way it's looking I can't wait to place her rendition of antons clothes along with my rainman headsculpt.

You try and tell Lee this as a certain number of his fan base are always lobbying Lee for there own/personal lame projects, stop the restock of your headsculpts and I'm sure he will reply "please don't tell me how to run my business" it's simple business sense - supply and demand. Why else would he release his sculpts. I personally think Lee should increase his dx and fullset run sizes that will help but a few of the fanboys have suggested he actually decrease them that only prompts me and others to think you guys are only into rainmans pieces for the monetary benefits. Now thats sad.....

There's more pressing situations in the world guys than 1/6 fabric clothing fueds, such as the world my children will grow up in which is full of such hatred and discrimination. Rob I assure you we have not used yunsils set as a template and have gathered our own info for Iris to work with.
