This guys got the right idea.

Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 6.03.11 AM.jpg

oh, and so does this guy...

Listen, no one is disputing that these characters should not be made, READ....

you can't honestly say it's doesn't feel like Rainmans catalog is being completely ripped off? :lol

But your right it's all fair game :duff....It may change whether an artist like Rainman decides to offer unpainted sculpts anymore, but it's all fair game until the next crop of collectors want the same things too.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

Also my comment was referring to the Brother Production set. Nowhere did I mention Yunsil.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

Vic, I didn't post that pic to start a war, it was to show you more of a "are you aware of this,it is nowhere near what your doing,=and I'm glad you did what you did instead post".
That being said, I think there are a few people out there who forget why they got into collecting this stuff in the first place. I can't speak for you or others, but it should be first and foremost:
1. Your love of that movie 2. Your love of that character they portrayed 3. Your connection to your childhood because that's why at 25+ your still buying toys as a grown man or woman. 3. The love of the art of the figure itself 4. The love of the artist who created it.
Now, there's a number 6 for a few people out there and I know I'm gonna get flack but I don't spend time caring what of people think of me, I've got more things going on in my life.
That is the I have it, you don't , I can afford it , you can't, having this somehow in my mind, makes me accepted (but it doesn't). You shouldn't be doing this if you can't afford it (which is ****ing ********). Now that I have this others will accept me as one of there own (which they don't, those types truly only care about themselves) NO one new can do this, only me, (which means your just afraid of not being special anymore, you never WERE)
In the end, just remember, YOU can't take it with you when you die and it is paint, resin & plastic.. not REAL.
That doesn't mean, it's not cool, or it shouldn't be enjoyed, it should. If i had it my way, I wish everyone could have a Rainman,Yunsil,JD Kim etc etc.. of their own, not because I want it mass marketed, because it's art and something that I love and I want people to share that love of it. It ain't yours to keep.
If that was true, those guys would just make it for themselves and never sell or share it.
Just like Vic said, some people get into it for monetary gain and to brag. Then there are people who change it, like Jacob who can create it and wanna share it. Every time , I've ever asked someone like him a question or a "how to" he never got a a high horse, he just shared. That's the kind of collector or artist I wanna surround myself with.
Ok, enough. Let me have it, I can take it back.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

It's sad but true Kevin we have a certain number of people within this hobby who think that way.
Within this thread someone stated that with us producing this run thier own rainman piece would drop in value. So that makes me think that they collect for the sole purpose of value.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

ssf sucks. ill stick to fb. lame **** has travelled here too.
cant escape it.

I really do not understand what all the fuss is about here. If Rainman Killer A is the figure you love... awesome. Why even pay this thread any mind? You would think with the way Phine1 was talking... that this somehow cause some sort of personal harm. Who cares? You guys get yourselves all riled up over PM on Facebook and then come on here and make fools out of yourselves.

This project run does no harm to you do why make such a fuss? You say it is not about money... and if that was the case what logical reason do you have to care so much? As it has been stated before.... Lee restocks the heads. The artist himself approves and distributes these heads on a regular basis. What are people supposed to do.... Buy the heads just to look at and not complete a figure? That is just nonsense.

People are here because they love a character and they want a figure of that character. All you are doing is ruining it for those involved. People are spending good money on this and there is no reason to look down on everyone from your ivory towers. Just simply move along.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

Agreed with above statement. Jacob effing Rahmier... Bursting at the seams with talent. No high horse, maybe a donkey...? Lol. Jake is one of my best buddies, and he's always shared whatever tips he's got when I've asked. Jake knows he's good, but you'll NEVER see him talking smack and acting like some elitist prick. I've become good at what I do, and a lot of it is owed to Jake. People like him innovate, and it's what keeps me in the hobby. It keeps it fresh. There is not a single thing that appeals to me by purchasing a full figure set. I'd much rather have that slow burn of a project coming together. Nothing beats it.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

T-Squared, I couldn't say it better. Not that purchasing a fill figure isn't nice, when you can go for it and get that artists full project work,do it!!
When you paint heads (which I do ,like you, i'm learning a lot from Jacob.) I am truly inspired by guys like you, him,Rocco, etc.( I love all your Butcher heads too) When you kit bash, you (whether you can paint or not) feel like YOU have a part in making that figure or project come to life. You can actually BE a part of the process. It's way more gratifying to me(can't speak for others) to actually build something with your own hands than to just buy it.
I come on here to hopefully contribute in a positive way and enjoy everyone's work whether it's superb or whether they are really trying hard. If your just here to brag or show off your collection only for the purpose to rub it in the faces of those who don't have it ,I feel sorry for you more than anything. If I had to psycho analyze (and it's just my opinion) you had a hard childhood with not a lot of real friends.
o.k. maybe i'm getting of course here. lol. Art is not owned by anyone, it's there for everyone to enjoy..

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

So, is this all about that "I only want MY people from MY clique to own a very LIMITED EDITION of famous character's figure done by a veteran artist so that I can feel superior by saying "sold out dude" when asked by someone about the origin of the figure. And I definitely won't feel comfortable when a new collector commissions a new artist to make the same character because I've paid massive amount of money for my art and I'd hate to see someone get a similar or even better looking toy for a lot cheaper than what I've paid for. People shouldn't kitbash their figures because it has no values and there's no way a kitbasher can top any veteran artists' work and there's a significant difference between ART and TOY."

If this is the case then we need a time machine to send those back to elementary school so they can fight over their same sneakers.

If you're gonna cruise into the interest threads, don't use copyright/likeness infringement as a defense to an argurment :lol

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

And you know what's gonna happen now,you should admit your situation, there would be more dignity in it.
Let me ask you something, if the rule you followed, brought you to this... of what use was the rule????
lol.

Let's just get along and enjoy collecting, kitbashing or whatever you guys do before Trump gets elected.

Re: Anton Assassin Clothes Set CALLING FOR FINAL PAYMENT

Dude really got me going. I appologize.

The value of something is only what the market is willing to pay for it. As an artist/designer I've seen a lot of - what I consider - crap passing as "art". But if someone is willing to pay for it, they may have something very valuable...if someone ELSE values it.

Rainman, Iminime, Petersen, these guys have all made names for themselves as producers of great figures. Copying them - even if it's down to the level of a button style or stitch - does nothing to devalue thier work. If I were an expert painter and was able to reproduce a Monet well enough to fool experts and I did this not to rip someone off but to hang in my own living room- does this devalue the Monet? Of course not! The value is in the fact that it is an original, done by the man himself. All the attempted copies, prints, fakes, etc. do nothing to the value of the painting.

And if I were lucky enough to own said original, I wouldn't be crying if others want to own a print of it, emulate it or even try to reproduce it for themselves - I HAVE the original!

My favorite aspect of this hobby is not buying a figure, opening it and posing it. That's fun, don't get me wrong. But I'm with Thom, I love putting together a figure, especially with a group of others. Getting to know the artists, the painters. Painting accessories and weathering clothes (the only two things I trust myself with so far), and sourcing elements; a great sculpt, the right weapon/accessory, modifying a body, etc. And displaying THAT figure. I love my CK figs, but I even look at those and see things I want to upgrade/fix/improve (looking at you Mad Max).

To each his own and I respect if you want to do nothing but buy $1k plus figures (personally I don't think some of them are worth that), but don't jump in and call people low-budget losers for wanting to try to have a version that they're happy with.

ok, I'm done.
