Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

What I think everyone will agree is the sculpt would look a lot better with a mix of real and sculpted, now if you want to add some real hair which most of us do we are not gonna be able to with the sculpt as is.it has to be sculpted a certain way to have it look right.with the pics we got I don't see it being possible to add real hair, sure you can just glue it on top but it's gonna look strange.shouldnt there be some kind of vote?also if I'm remembering correctly this project was started to get a joker head as good as Adams,Why not use his for reference?his are perfect.to me this looks like the dx11 without the smirk,I think it should look similar to Adams, not because we want to copy his sculpt but cause he sculpted it correctly.he got everything right,so realistically if it doesn't look like Adams it's not right.to me there is a lot that needs to be fixed before it can be considered on the same high end scale as Adams.

It doesn't look like Adam left any room for real hair to be added or made the sculpted portion any less to add the real hair. Look at the picture Snake posted. The real hair that was added was only the brown hairs over the green sculpted hair. The new sculpt still has plenty of room to add real hair to it with looking like too much hair.

I have Adams sculpt and he defenatly left room for real hair to be added, true it's sculpted but he keeps it flatter to the head so when the real hair is added it can hang natural instead of flaring out to the side

This is what I'm worried about when I mentioned that with the sculpted hair as it is, it might make the hair
look too big...like it has too much volume.

As I suggested earlier, is it possible to have version A (sculpted) and version B (mix-media friendly)
Even if Version B is for modders only who plan on adding hair?

Anyone with photoshop skills going to do a colour test? I know only a WIP. :)

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

Looks awesome, people better drop out of the list due to the hair issue because I want in. :lol

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

I think that the eyebrows are a little off, they should be a little more slanted

I also think that the nose should be a little more upturned and that the wrinkles on the forehead are a bit too deep.
It looks really good so far though

Completely agree. I don't think it would be to much of a burden to tweak one of the sculpts for those who are planning to add hair. Ideally it would be great to have them do it up front for those that want the sculpt/hair mix, but I think that would be a good compromise if they don't want to add the hair themselves.

Have you brought up the idea of using the sculpt/hair mix to the sculptor yet Axe?

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

Guys I just want to say a couple of things. Please bear with me and I hope you don't misunderstand me.

1. Although this project started out from an idea I had because I always craved to own an Adam sculpt didn't mean I was getting one as sculpted by Adam.
This thread always said its effort was to get a top industry sculptor give us a high quality likeness of Joker.

2. I never mentioned that real hair was confirmed. Like everything else which was still speculative in the early days so was this. With more recent developments you can rule out the hairing of sculpts because it has been seen to be very inconvenient when involved in large production runs.
And I want the production run to be big to ensure whoever wants a sculpt gets one.

Keeping these points in mind I would appeal to your good senses to not keep comparing it to Adam's sculpt but rather to actual movie stills or movie/character based references.
Please understand that this project is not to produce a cheaper Adam sculpt. But to produce a high quality joker at a reasonable price to quality ratio when compared to what is available.

The artist is a human being with his own self respect. Not a 3D scanner to replicate another artists work. If it is really Adam's sculpt you want I will kindly request you to contact him for one.

I really hope I am not misunderstood. Please respect the handwork of an artist and if you obviously feel it needs improvement please refer to the source material. Not another artist's interpretation.

Thank you.

Well said Axe, even without comparison photos, the WIP looked freakin' amazing. One can only imagine how great the final sculpt would be

100% agree with this! and call me crazy but I really love the interpretation of the hair that the sculptor did!
It looks nothing like the adam ones but Ledger had different length hair during the movies! The hair looks really longer in the mob scene and in the end that during the interrogation scene!

I will try to do some photoshop mockup tomorrow but I didn't see a lot of things to change! It looks like he has sculpted Ledger first ( which is great! ) and he has only begin to add the scars?! So I think that there will be lot of improvement in the second wip!

I have to say, it's already one of the best likeness that I have seen! I'm dying to see the next WIP! And please, wait for the painting test, it will amazed you! I'm sure!

I understand fully that adding hair to the sculpt is a tedious process, that's why that's not what I proposed.
I understand doing so will compromise the production run as doing so will limit the run.
Its commendable that youre trying to make this a big run
so that more people can have the opportunity to get this joker.

But again...what I'm proposing is NOT for the production to have real hair, but for the production
to have a Version A (sculpted), and Version B (mix media friendly)...with B for modders who plan to do
that process themselves or have it customized.

Obviously, it seems there's a LOT of demand for a Version B for people who wants this sculpt
close to a certain artist's sculpt that has hair but cant afford $2k.
So it is hoped, that something similar can be had with this offering.
If it cant be done, that's fine.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

I disagree with using screenshots to compare it too,if you don't want to compare it to Adams then we should be looking at pics of heaths life casts,if any screenshots should be used it should be the cop scene were he wears no makeup.i use Adams as a comparison because it's right.its a perfect sculpt, like I mentioned before if it doesn't look like Adams then it's not right.im not saying it should be an exact copy but it should be close.just as bob Causeys sculpt and Adams sculpt are similar, they are not the same but they are similar .as for the hair shouldn't we take a count?i realize the sculptor doesn't want to add hair but if 45 of 50 people are going to add hair after they get it then maybe the sculptor should sculpt it flatter to the head so we can do it.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

I think this looks amazing! One of the best likeness out there of Heath. I'm still in for this thats for sure!

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

I really feel it is unfair to the sculptor the expectations set, but I do feel like he understood this when he agreed to take on this project. (Challenge Accepted!)

I think the sculpt looks great and its still a WIP.

Axe you are balsy to take on this project and the same can be said for the sculptor, but you are doing a good job so far.

I think people's arguments have been noted. lets keep it constructive peeps.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

I'm not sure if some of you guys are brain dead but axe made it clear that there will be no real hair, meaning no sculpts with all real hair, no sculpts with some real hair, no sculpts with space for real hair. There will be one sculpt. Send comparison pics between this sculpt and movie stills, stop comparing to adams. The end.

Re: 1:6 Heath Ledger as The Joker Painted Headsculpt WIP PIC UPDATED in 1st POST

In case the sculptor enlarge the number of sculpts done, the price ll be cheaper?
