Lets try to keep the focus on the sculpt and not get off topic with pricing and comparisons to other artists. Im sure we could all help the process by rounding up decent screenshots or other reference material.

Certainly debatable on Bill. I've not seen a better Doc Holiday, Anton, Dude, Plainview, Marla Singer, or Audrey Hepburn. I personally think his Tuco beats the Iminime one, as well.

Eh, I don't know about this statement. Has anyone other than Rainman even tackled half those characters? I don't think I've seen another Holiday, at least, outside of his offering, and, while I'm uncertain, so, don't quote me, have there even been any other Antons or Plainviews, outside of some one-off Kitbashes/customs folks put together for themselves? The only other "Dude" project I've seen on these boards was Sculptors, but did he do The Dude or just Walter? End of the day, though, it seems like half of those are the equivalent of "participation trophies.":lol I disagree on Tuco and Hepburn, though. Though it's not marketed as a Hepburn sculpt, I'd say cloudfilter's "Catwoman" beats "Roman Holiday" tenfold in the likeness department.

I agree with Small Studios that we shouldn't continue these sorts of discussions in interest threads for specific sculpts like this, but I was responding to Wake's post that "RM no longer owns the top spot on ANY of his head sculpts as they have all been sculpted better by someone else."

Ah, I gotcha. Well, I suppose that makes sense that he'd win, in those cases.:lol Don't get me wrong, he is a very talented individual, I was just taken a bit off guard by that statement.

As for Indy, I look forward to seeing how it turns out. As far as the pricepoint goes, I've seen worse in this hobby. Is $300 expensive? Absolutely. Personally, though, if this guy can bring folks a definitive Indy sculpt, I'd say he absolutely deserves to charge whatever he feels is fair, as this seems to be a hell of a challenging project. I've seen offerings of Indy from some of the most talented sculptors out there, but, as good as a lot of them may be, I've never seen the one that just "clicked;" Ford's likeness seems to be almost as elusive, for sculptors, as The Ark of the Covenant was for Indy.:lol

Yeah, both Rainman and Iminime selling high quality, painted sculpts for around $150 does make it seem pricey by comparison, but the artist can set the price to make it worth his time and energy to create. He's doing the sculpting and painting himself, and so you can understand there being a premium for that fact alone. The price on Joker was a bit of a deterrent to me, but if Indy is done really well I'll probably find a way to free up the money and shell it out. Just too important of a character, and too few really great options out there.

This is for me (and for a lot of other people too) just one of those characters who are worth every penny. I want an Indy that I can look at and say "yeah, that's it" the way I do with Blondie. That being said, at the price point that is proposed, this better be the walk-off grand slam of Indy sculpts. It can't be too small or too big or have a funky hat or a weird expression. Based on this guys previous work, I definitely think it is very possible.

Where can I see previous work from this sculptor/painter? Seems I'm missing something, 120$ for an unpainted sculpt is up there with the most expensive I've seen.

is it still possible to get in on this release?

If it's anything like the other two releases, it'll be on a made-to-order basis, of sorts, where, for a certain amount of time, anyone who wants one will be able to get one.

Here are his Joker and Bill the Butcher sculpts (Joker's painted):

Well, we know how well he sculpts, but we haven't seen anything painted yet. Let his skills determine the price point.

Second Unoffered Work. Still on Interest

As for the price.

If people have read the first post carefully they will know the prices I mention are total estimates NOT FINAL PRICES based on a previous project here. That project had its own logistics, complexities, and order size which was a factor to those costs.
All ACTUAL COSTS can ONLY be determined after a sizable part of the project is done.
Plus deposits have ONLY been taken after the showing of a painted sample. The price is what it was then, whether it will be less or more for this is not set.

This sounds good, I never lay down cent one till I've seen exactly what I'm going to get. Having seen this guy's previous work I do have much more faith that he can pull this off than I have in any other. These things take time and it'll take as long as it takes, so, with that in mind, I don't think anyone should post *bump* or "Any news!?". When there is something to know, we will know....

Hey guys, there is no list for this. MJ12 will make the sculpt, and once we have a working proto and an estimate price, people can then decide wether they would like to preorder or not.

If ????? nails this, it could potentially be one of the greatest selling head sculpts ever!!!

Will probably be a neutral one with the trademark Indy smirk/quizzical look. Makes it versatile for various poses as well as makes it less likely to be looking wierd from other angles except one which is the case with most extreme expressions.

Sounds good!

If it was done well, I would probably prefer the smirk as I think about it. But sculptors seem to have trouble with that. I wonder if this sculptor is up to a challenge like that?
