Well, Milos says they will be available for sale from the printing shops then as casts further down the line. Interest for this is definitely enough so this is going ahead, if Milos can get the casting advice he needs.
Did you manage to successfully contact him?

I have not gone pasted the pming. Tell him to get on here and talk to me. :wink1:

Re: Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory

Sorry for delay, my laptop died :gah: but I have managed to order the print from shapeways before that :yess:. Target ship date is 26th. It is much longer than advertised 8 days, but I guess it is because of the first print and they need to doublecheck the model. They do have file size limit, but I have reduced the size just a bit, so there is no noticeable difference. Now it is up to 3d printer not to mess it up.
Robbie, I have sent you PM regarding casting.

Re: Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory

I know "different strokes for different folks" but I find the whole idea of people willing to pay for a custom of this character a little bewildering. :dunno

My girlfriend would rather see Sheldon, Ted from HIMYM, and Charlie Sheen on my work desk in the living room than Predator and Bats who are there now* :)

*she introduced a "2 ugly figures on display in the living room at any one time" rule, but I think she'd expand the limit if I moved Pred :rotfl

Re: Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory

Hello everybody!

Yesterday I got the 3d print! I was busy so here are just a few quick photos. I hope on Sunday I have time during day to make better ones. It is not polished so you can notice print layers. It is hard to take a good photo since it is translucent...especially since it is only 1mm thick as I wanted to make it cheap as possible.

After I ordered the print in "White Detail", I have realized there is a material that allows higher resolution (Frosted ultra detail) but it would very translucent and without the layer of paint you would not see much (from the samples i saw, it would look like ice)

It is available in shapeways shop in all available materials, so if you plan to airbrush it, you might want to choose mentioned higher resolution material.

Enjoy!

Re: Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory

Hey Everybody!

Now I see that my yesterday's post is held for moderation, possibly because I had link and large images there. The 3d print has arrived and now it is available on shapeways website. Google it and type "Milos Jim" in search box. You can see the photos there before post is approved.

After I completed my order I have realized that there was a material with much higher resolution, but it was too late. I printed it in "White Detail" material, and if you want highest resolution you will need it in "Frosted Ultra Detail" but then you will need to paint it since otherwise it will look like ice, transparent. You will see the details after you airbrush it with one paint layer.

The "White Detail" Material is a bit translucent so it is hard to take a photo. I will try to find time the next days to try different light settings. It is 1mm thin to reduce the cost as much as possible. Photos are as it came from the print shop, without polishing so you can see some print layers, but not visible as much as with SLS technology.

Re: Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory

So we can choose what material we want the sculpt printed in? The one in the photo's is a little soft in detail.
