Have no fear, I know who mighty has in mind and they're the exact guys I'm in talks with. May have some good answers soon fellas. Stay tuned :D

Hey peeps, I never forgot about the katana. I've been working on it and have talked to several people about it. I've explored different ideas; whether it's one artist tackling the whole thing or a mix of two people or more (each doing the blade, handle & sheath, painting, assembling, ect.), it's working out to be EXPENSIVE. I'm still working on getting the right people to work on this that can offer it for a more comfortable price for everyone.

Jeff and I talked about this extensively and doing real metal swords is insanely expensive because it's very labor intensive. One idea I floated before is to actually buy a figure to get the swords and then customize it. If anyone knows of any figures that come with metal swords and are cost effective, we can then just change the sword guard and handle and it might still end up being cheaper than making everything from scratch. Those Mononofu swords were about $25-30 a piece already. So maybe looking for a samurai figure or something that's $60-70 might be an idea.

Thanks for the heads up PCK.

No prob dude :)

They way it's all working out now is over $200. That's for a real metal, chromed, made from scratch blade (so accurate length) by one customizer and another customizer handling the sheath and hilt in resin (then there's paint and assembly).

I don't have nor do I want any financial involvement and that's exactly what I tell everyone that I've approached with this. I'm not looking for money or even a discount on my own piece. I'm just trying to get the right people together to bring this to life at a high quality standard.

I haven't brought any updates because I just assumed that the interest list would diminish to 1-3 people if I said that this would cost $225-$250. If I'm wrong and people are willing to go for that then we can get the ball rolling now! But if that prices the majority of the list out, then the search goes on...

I completely forgot about someone else I can run ths by :slap. Captain HH made us Ra's cane swords with real metal blades and wood handle and sheath. Carving this from wood is even harder than casting the parts in resin. It only cost $150 shipped from Russia and the initial run was only 3 pieces. I think he went on to make another 3-5 after that. He may be the man for the job! I don't know if he would be able to accommodate a 20+ head list though

Yeah I'm on that list for Ra's cane, hopefully he can tackle it in making the sword for Morpheus.

John and I spoke on this subject of the sword at lengths end. I came up with finding the metal mononofu swords on ebay but the problem was that they were all different lengths and didn't resemble each other.

If the captain can offer it for approx $150 then that seems very reasonable, because I don't know where we can go from here unless we cast the whole sword in resin.

Right, that's what John chimed in and originally said; the variation wasn't consistent and it's too hard to source 20+ of the same size (or something to that effect).

That would've been ideal for modding existing blades but then we'd still be settling for the size. The only way we could get exact accuracy is if it's made fom scratch. I definitely don't think that resin is the way to go but a finished product of a metal blade and painted resin trimmings is expensive. Hopefully I can find a way to get it made in the $150 range

Thanks to you both for making an effort to keep this project reasonable. I would be able to handle $200 for the sword as insane as that is but if we can get something manageable it would be great! Thanks again

Hey guys, of you are looking for mononofu swords I got some available for you, asking $20.00 shipped in the US. These are all metal swords with sheath, if interested I got pics, let me know.
