Andy, I have that second bust you showed, and you are correct, they are all wrong. Many collectors have replaced the switch with a correct version, but required some knowledge of the process so as to not ruin it. I left mine as is.

The correct switch is almost like the face of a kitchen timer.

Haha yes, I couldn't think of a good way to describe it, but you nailed it! Ok guys, here goes... update #1 on the bust...

... So I have the 3D model mostly ready of the bust portion, still working on the head. I have essentially "punched" holes in the bust to fit the bulb and wiring, the switch and it's wiring, and areas inside for them to communicate. I don't have this properly scaled yet but I'm HOPING I can hide a battery in the very bottom part of the base but it may be too thin, we'll see. Either way I'm super happy with this all so far.

BTW that last image is just to show the hole running down the length of the bust along with the holes up top where the bulb and switch will go.

Hey, everyone. I got the parts in for the inside of the phone to do the light up feature. So far I think my idea is going to work with regards to the on/off switch and such. I'm still a little concerned that the power button setup I am trying might affect the lighting but we will see. I have painted a new phone and just need to put everything inside and see what is looks like.

Regarding the bust greatlakes was kind enough to send me some close-up photos of his life-sized replica bust so I will be tweaking the sculpt just a tad (mostly around the eyes and brow region). Those photos also nicely show off the makeup of the light so I will be modeling that soon as well.

Hey, all... so i have a fun little update. I worked out the on/off switch. I integrated it into the phone itself so i didn't have to do a hidden switch on the back or bottom. I hope you all like it!

Now i just need to figure it how to do the blinking. Which is tough because there's only so much room inside that phone body. Either way how you all enjoy where this is headed!

Holy sh*t, you are a genius! One question, the black button looks like it sticks out quite a bit in the video, am I seeing that right.

So yes, it does stick out a bit. More than my original model. However in the show the button does actually stick out more than my original model, but maybe not as much as this one currently.

The button has to be a little longer to have enough throw to activate the switch itself, but I think I can shorten it just a tad to look more accurate but still be usable for the switch.

Absolutely awesome!

Hey, all... just a small update. I think I have figured out the blinking light so I'm very excited about that. I am still tweaking things on the phone to make the internals as efficient as possible. I'm also working on a possible different method of coloring the phone for more consistency. I have a few test phones printing right now so hopefully a few more things to show soon.

And I have been waiting on a new part for my printer to print the first iteration of the bust so i should have that to show perhaps by the end of the week.

No interest, but I gotta take a moment to recognize how bad ass this project and your drive to make it right is. Awesome man. Great piece!
