The caster made a mess with the casts again. Even after I gave him a second chance in Sept to make it right, he sent me more defective casts.

I’ve hired a new caster to make the casts correctly, after previous caster proved incapable of checking his work.
So, casts will be ready first week of February.

I received the recent defective casts on Jan 6th

Here are the defects I saw.
At least 10 of the casts have these identical defects:

1) resin material splashed across and into the left eye. And looks like a crease in the eyebrow

2) a gash in the corner of the right eye

3) multiple pinholes/scratching/dents in the throat area:

DoggieDoc apologized to me for recommending this guy, but I don’t blame DD.

the caster refuses to take accountability, refuses to refund, constantly says I’m harassing him, makes threats that he will exacerbate things if I badmouth him or seek to get my money back.
 
It sounds like all this guy is interested in is getting paid, but not so much doing a job worth paying for.

I don’t know what a caster charges, but if you need us to kick in for the incremental costs of getting the casts right, I would be willing to contribute. I think you spent money for casting based on the recommendation of a solid resource, which is what any of us would have done. While I’m certainly not made of money, I don’t think it’s fair that you should eat all of that yourself. Please let us know your thoughts on this.

Karma is a funny thing - it will most certainly come back to this guy. Probably when he can least afford it. I hope you and DD share this experience about this guy with everyone that needs casting services.

It’s not the money that bothers me, I can take the hit,

It’s the fact I gave this guy multiple chances to make it right, but he doesn’t take his responsibility seriously.
I wasted half a year waiting for him to do it right.
Numerous times, I reminded him to please check every cast carefully for any defects.
But I don’t see how that’s possible.

Then when confronted with the truth, he doesn’t do the honorable thing.
He tries to play the victim and says I’m the one who’s wronging him.
This entire debacle is so crazy.
 
Unfortunately, some people are just like that. We’ve all met people that are just in it for the fast buck, and we’ve all come up with our own names for them.

In the end, they’re typically known simply as “unemployed” ;)

Just put this experience with this guy in the rearview and move forward. Come tomorrow, you’ll be one step closer to wrapping this up, but he’ll still be a clueless jerk on his way out(y)

OK i've had enough of this now, I will just give my side of the story as its pretty obvious who you are talking about.

I know this is nothing to do with gcard76 but in november i lost my Step-Nan, we were not close but this had a big effect on my grandfather and he deteriorated and developed pneumonia in early Dec.
He had his ups and downs but sadly passed away a few days before christmas, due to going in and out of hospital i caught a chest infection myself and was extremely ill over christmas.
I know this may seem irrelevant to some people but due to my ASD its all add big effect on me.

gcard76 was aware of all of this, I don't like to go into detail about my private life after working together for a year i thought i should be honest about the delays.

There are more things i can say about what i did for him but rather than turn this into an argument i will just jump to the end.

gcard76 contacted me last Wednesday about the situation with the casts and i told him that i am really struggling at the moment, my grandads funeral is on Monday 16th January so could we please deal with this after. I admit i was not sympathetic enough to him but with everything that's gone on i feel very burnt out.

I did offer to refund if he sent the casts back to me (he initially said all 18 were defective but then changed to 10 so im still not sure the true amount) but he declined.

Instead of leaving me alone gcard76 tried to bully me in to taking on a Batman Suit project, constantly messaged about how much of a bad person i am and made constant threats.

I still politely requested that we be amical about this but gcard76 still made 2 PP claims yesterday that were very soon closed in my favour.

After the paypal claims and constant harassment i did say i would exacerbate things if he kept this up but i felt like it was needed as i was just trying to deescalate the situation.

Maybe im strange but when i know a fellow human is going through a hard time i try to show compassion and understanding even when im annoyed :rolleyes:

I'm not gonna flood the thread with screen shots of the convo (i can if people want) but here are shots of the closed PP claims that gcard76 didn't mention.

You try to make out like im terrible and badmouth me but all the heads on your Instagram within the last year were all 3d printed or cast by me so i cant be that bad :LOL:

he keeps saying I refused to return the heads to him. I did not.
I said I will if he paid for return shipping.

I already paid twice for shipping to me that cost over $100 each time.
I shouldn’t pay for his mistakes
 
All 18 heads had at least 1 defect.

In my argument, I focused on the 10 heads made by one particular mold that had the most egregious defects.
 
I feel bad for his family situation, but he told me I should just let him keep my money because out of pity or something.

I’m not a charity handing out money to people in tough times. That’s not my role in this.
This was a business transaction that I gave him a second chance to make right and he pissed all over it again.

If he had told me to give him time to pay back the money because he’s broke right now, I would say that’s okay.
I could wait a few months or make some arrangements.
But he constantly berated me in emails and made threats like a crazy person.
 
His current family situation seems to have begun around sometime in late November.

That’s when he began mentioning delays and family situations.

That doesn’t explain why he shipped me defective heads the first time in Sept.
Why he didn’t inspect his work back then.

Then, he was working on redoing the heads in Sept and Oct, long before his current family situation became an issue.
And it was those heads that have the egregious defects
 
The PayPal claims were closed because it was beyond the 6 months deadline to file.

Not because they found him in the right.

Why make a claim if you knew 6 months had already expired? Shows you leave parts of the story out to benefit yourself and make you look better.

At the end of the day my grandad had a slow painful death and i just wanted to be left alone. I still worked on your sneakers and head casts while i had an infection and you still didn't cut me any slack when i needed you to be patient for me.

Only the original young Bruce order of heads were all defective. That’s the ones I want refunded.

I don’t know why some heads are done well and others are littered with defects.

You didnt feel bad enough to give me a week to sort my head out and still made 2 paypal claims the day before the funeral.

I see multiple posts of a guilty person so im just gonna leave it there as i just got back from the funeral.

This is what i meant by exacerbate things btw, i just wanted to deal with this amicably but you kept escalating things.

I was willing to give you money back but after how you acted i took that off the table.

Paypal sided with me and you've done what i asked you not to and we have both had our reputations muddied so the situation is over.

In December, I told him I was going to get a different caster to make my joker sneakers.
That way he can just finish the heads and take a break.
I didn’t want him stressing on my shoes while his family situation was ongoing.

But he expressed disappointment and said I owed him the job. He begged me not to take away the joker shoes work from him. He said it wasn’t fair I give the job to someone else.

I said, but when are you going to finish them? Didn’t you say you planned on a 2 week Christmas break?
My shoes are already behind schedule because he had promised me they would be done by start of December.
I have my painter waiting for them.

Now he says I forced him to work on them. That I was heartless and didn’t respect his situation.
He chose to continue to work on them.
He actually begged to work on them.

So I gave him what he asked for and now he says I forced him to work on them

My reputation and my conscience are clean.
I always treated him fairly.
But he shows no respect to me as his faithful customer.
It’s him who has been exposed as a liar and his work as unreliable.
Look at the photos of the heads he sent me.
The evidence doesn’t lie

Again, the only reason PayPal would not allow the claim is because the 180 day period for filing had expired by 3 days.
Not because they decided in his favor.

The email specifically says this

His assertion that PayPal somehow ruled in his favor because of merit is a lie.
