Gee Whiz makes great coats. All that is needed is the overcoat and scarf for the clothing.
........and then just imagine how pi**ed off you would be if you had acquired the license for this collectible for then somebody else to come along and bootleg it essentially. A typical entitleist perspective on this matter, Axe. If you can't understand and sympathise with the stance BCS are taking on this, then shame on you.
You misunderstand me, I said I expected this as I knew BCS would obviously not allow any more production. They are on the right and Im not upset in the least with them for not allowing the custom. What I am upset is the quality of their release to be honest. I was one of the first guys to stand in line, and also wish someone made collectibles for the series. When BCS got the license and I saw Trevor's sculpts were being used I was thrilled. If you love the character so much, and want to support the artists. . . then buy the official licensed merch that supports the people that created the show, character, series, etc.

When the product ended up looking like Barbie Doll finishing, which would look in complete contrast to the rest of my 1:6 figures, thats when I had to turn again to the custom option. I love the character and show, but I also believe the licensed merch isnt upto my expectations.
In fairness, your expectation is irrelevant. You speak loudly against recasters and those that support them, in spite of the artists that create the work. Those folks say "I don't need the $300 headsculpt, I'm fine with the $30 version". Now, your argument is "I don't want that $200 version, I want the $450 version". It's the same argument, just inverted. None of you are supporting the artists. The licensing money, the reason licensed figures are expensive, is because it goes to the guys that created the show/character, Moffat, BBC, Cumberbatch, etc. When you buy unlicensed custom figures, none of that money goes to support the people that made that character who it is. If you love the character and want to see more, then buy the official licensed merch. It's more of a situation with ethics and morals, rather than your expectations.
I encourage you to support the artists. Buy the BCS figure and have someone customize it to your expectations.

I prefer quality. I want to see Sherlock when I see the figure I want. I want to see justice to the Trevor sculpt. I want to see a Sherlock which if I place beside my other Hot Toy figures wont look like a knock off 1:6 figure, even though it maybe official merchandise. In fairness, your expectation is irrelevant. Ofcourse they will. They paid good money for it :lol I mean look at the picture of the paint on the sculpt, the eyes! The coat is like a hairball?!!Well, over at the BCS Sherlock thread in the General section, many praise the BCS figure and even say it's better than iminime's. :dunno
Sounds like Ed is up for a trade!Well, over at the BCS Sherlock thread in the General section, many praise the BCS figure and even say it's better than iminime's. :dunno
It's completely different. Recasting is directly making a copy of (stealing) another artist's work for profit.
This is a completely individual artistic interpretation from scratch.
Screw BCS. If they make a head that isn't up to the quality we expect, why should every fan have to suffer because of it? This is no different than all the custom Joker or Indy heads/clothing out there. And no one cares about Hot Toys' feelings there. If BCS doesn't like it; maybe they should have made a better figure.

For the record Denny has abided by all requests. He's not the one arguing here.
Why do we even need to ask permission when the "Interest threads" section of this forum is filled with people selling upgrades and alternatives to officially licensed figures?
This is the first time in the many years ive been here that ive ever once seen anyone sympathetic to licenser's rights.
I'm curious - if this was an upgrade to the originally purchased BC figure (like a better head) then would this be acceptable?if it was released later rather than earlier would that be more acceptable?
ed - I'm in no way having a dig, just wondering about licencing etiquette
so Yunsil coat + scarf, anyone still interested?
