Thanks, guys! Question...the spiral umbrella is essentially done (still have to cast handles) but I need to know how you guys feel about the back. Right now I only painted the front of the umbrella, leaving the back looking like this...

Is it imperative the back be painted as well or do you all not mind the appearance? I'm fine either way I just thought I'd ask. Obviously painting the back means more time but it really isn't too bad.

Hey guys, quick update... I am about ready to make an official "For Sale" thread, or modify this one to be official, but I am having some weird issues with my resin casting the handles. All of a sudden my resin is coming out very pliable and rubbery instead of firm and harder, which is NOT desireable since it has to support the weight of the umbrella! Once I figure that out I will start taking official orders. For a bit of a preview I am thinking about $50 for the spiral and $75 for the Mobile umbrella. I hope that is in line with what people were maybe thinking... as I said there is a good bit of materials and time involved here, but I'm trying to keep things reasonable.

Awesome! Price isn't set in stone yet, once I get the resin issue worked out I am going to take stock of my costs, but if it differs at all it'll still be in that ball park[emoji2] .

Not a huge issue... once I take names officially it will be a bit as I start to make things before they'd even be ready to go out.

That being said... I figured out the resin issue! Seems I was making my batches too small (I was making a tiny batch per umbrella handle) and this was throwing off the ratios so curing wasn't happening perfectly. I make extra molds so I can cast 3 umbrella handles at a time, which meant I could make larger batches, and now they are all coming out sturdy and strong. Overall pretty happy with everything: ).

Now a question for you guys... should I start a NEW "For Sale" thread or modify this one? I just wasn't sure which was better... this thread has lots of pictures, but a new thread might be better for people finding it and so I can get an official list going. Thanks for the advice!

So I did some investigating on shipping... looks like shipping will be an average of around $10 for US and $15 for international. I could NOT find any shipping rates lower than that considering this MUST be shipped in a box to prevent any sort of damage. I hope that ends up being ok for everyone. Good news is, if anyone decides to get both, they should easily fit in the same box so ONE shipping price for TWO umbrellas: ).
