Hey I was wondering if you will be offering the umbrella with out the toy things like a normal black one?

Ya know I hadn't thought about it. But I suppose I could offer that as an alternative to those who want an umbrella that goes along with his coat better. Now that I have a good matterial and shape I'd just have to get some in black...easy enough.

Oh I totally understand. I have no problem maybe making a different color! And no this doesn't fold up. That'd require some serious engineering that I bet I could do but would probably drastically affect price, materials needed, etc.

Very cool. Can't wait to see the finished product.

(I also wonder if NECA releases this figure in 7 inch scale if they'll include an umbrella with him at that size?)

Fabric paint is coming this week so I will be trying to get the red going for a finished look. After that I just need to fabricate the umbrella handle...trickier than it looks!

It's getting exciting now...the fabric paint is PERFECT.

I tried a little on a scrap piece of spandex...the color is solid, looks great, and didn't look like paint on fabric. It really looks like the fabric was always red.

I was able to get a really clean line free hand, as you can see in the pics (ignore the smudging, I had paint all over my hands from opening the jar!), so I have great confidence I'll get clean lines since I'll be masking off the edges when I paint these. Can't wait to do the fabric for the canopy on the proto...will probably get that done this weekend at the worst, though I might find some time during the week!

Fabric paint is working great...Will let it dry for 24 hours and then see how it looks on the frame!

So here we go...looking good! You can see some brush strokes in one of the images but don't worry, I'll be sure both sides of the cloth are solid red.

Worked on the handle finally. As you can probably see it's very rough right now but I have yet to sand it and refine it for casting. I think it looks great overall though!

Only issue I'm having is the umbrella is heavy, so if you're hands sit loosely in the wrist the umbrella wants to flop over. Nothing a little nail polish can't help with to tighten up loose wrist pegs, though, I guess.

Forgot the pics!

Also, I shortened the umbrella shaft right after taking these pics. Should help a bit with the umbrella proportions.

Actually when you first mentioned the black one the spiral one actually came to mind! Painting it would indeed be annoying but I certainly think it would be possible, especially since I found a great fabric paint. Essentially, as long as I could mask out the pattern it would likely be doable.

Speaking of the black with brown handle, do you have a picture or a link I could check it out so I can reference colors?

I would love the spiral one... Now only wish someone would figure out an way for an closed umbrella, cause I think the doll ones are too big and the 1/6 ones are too small...

Looks super awesome doggiedoc. Really fine work. Yea the other umbrella would be cool too :)

Any idea how much these will be DoggieDoc and will we be able to select between the 3?(mobile,spiral,and black)?
