And just a heads up...updates will slow down a bit as it's back to work tomorrow[emoji22] . However hopefully the quick initial progress has given everyone confidence in the project. Look forward to showing more in the coming days/weeks!

A question for all those interested...

... I'm trying to come up with a good material for the umbrella. I have considered nylon for accuracy, though it would likely increase cost, not to mention add a ton of work to make. I have also considered simply making the umbrella out of a thin plastic. The benefits there are it is cheaper, and also way less complicated to make, as I can just paint it red and white rather than have to concern myself with different colored cloth.

Would anyone have an issue if the umbrella material was made out of a plastic as long as it maintained its screen accurate appearance? I like having input from those interested, so let me have it! Thanks, guys, I will keep the thread posted with my progress. I will try to head to the store for some materials to try this week if possible, this weekend at the latest.

I also sculpted the last dangly toy... It is some sort of chicken or bird!

Just a quick update. Still working on everything, and I think I have finally found the perfect material for the umbrella itself. I just have to see if I can get it locally or if I need to order it. I decided to go with a lightly textured plastic that is durable enough to hold up over time but flexible enough to give he look I want to mimic the nylon umbrella fabric. Once I have the material nailed down all I need to do is figure out the specific logistics of assembly, and then I can get to molding and casting the toys for the multiple sets. The umbrella itself is mostly fabrication, so no real molding or anything like that required. Once I have a final, full umbrella nailed down I will take info on who's truly in as well as give you guys a cost. Thanks!

And P.S., I mentioned earlier I have never shipped anything internationally so I am not quite sure what that means for those of you outside the U.S. Maybe we'll cross that bridge when we get there, but obviously shipping costs could be killer.

Was that a dramatic pause, there?[emoji50]

No point really. Maybe a bit of a Christopher Walken pause.

If the umbrella could be sent in two pieces (detachable grip?) in a padded envelope through USPS First Class Airmail (cheapest option IIRC).

You read my mind. The plan is to fabricate the large umbrella itself as one piece, and the handle as a separate piece. They will then be easily attachable by you guys at home.

Experimenting with casting the dangly toys today! Hoping for clean molds and minimal air bubbles! I'll update with some pictures later.

Alright, made some casts of the dangly toys...I think they're turning out great! A few bubbles here and there, but nothing a little touching up can't fix. Now just waiting on the umbrella material to arrive!

Got the material in for the umbrella...And it is perfect! Just thick enough to stand up to general wear and tear, but thin enough to look natural. The final major hurdle is figuring out how to effectively paint it without losing the properties I just mentioned. Testing on paint to commence soon!

I also made some adjustments to the umbrella support mechanism that will be easier to replicate multiple times.
