Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

I'd love to get one of these, not sure if it's been asked but who's doing the clothes?

You have to find your own unless Shortround revives the clothes thread.
There are lots of khakis on eBay and a couple denim shirts. They won't be 100% accurate, but they look great for $30.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

There is also another option for the shirt which just needs a couple of adjustments and surprisingly it's from a Ken doll, Harley-Davidson Ken Doll #2 by Mattel to be exact.
I'm still tweaking it and will be replacing the buttons, but here it is with just the top flaps for the pockets sewn in. The flaps are not perfect since I did it pretty quickly (will probably move them a bit higher), but it looks really nice in person. Plus, it already has the sleeves folded. It's on a soldier story v.2.5 body.

I'll take more pics when his pants arrive.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Hey guys I would contact hegemony77 on etsy. She does brilliant work or tinela. Hegemony77 could charge about $70 usd and that leaves room for $20 pants and $20 body with this headsculpt.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Well, I just nabbed a good pair of work boots for Grant so I guess I'm committed.

VashD: funny you post that random Ken shirt -- I actually have that one and was looking at it as a possible bash. Where'd you get the extra material to make the pocket flap though? Cut from the inside?

Also VashD: are you sculpting neck or no neck on Grant?

Ik what those were...

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

My 7toys7 shirt will be in this week, so you guys can have another outfit idea. I have that shirt and the VTS Weapon Advisor khakis.

What is the 7toys7 shirt? Is that the Wild Toys one? That's the one I'm considering.

Here's an angle on Grant you don't see every day, maybe good ref for Vash -- mouth closed of course...

Oh, yeah it is Wild Toys. 7T7 is the seller. Mine should be here any day now. It crossed through San Francisco customs 2 days ago. I'll post a picture of the clothes on a TTM19 for reference.

Yep, that will be a good combo.

Still trying to see if there's a "shovel pouch" out there or if I'm going to make one.

I actually bought some denim material @ Joann fabrics. However, the denim was not the same texture, but there was 1/2" edge around the material that matched pretty close to the Ken shirt material.
I don't care for necks on sculpts since it hinders posing, so it will be without a neck.
I also did a version 1 of the claw and the folding shovel. I'll probably do a more refined version, but I'm sure these wouldn't look too shabby painted up.

I purchased that denim shirt you guys were talking about a while back, but I cut off the sleeves and reworked it to be a denim "jacket" for my custom Wolverine. However, I went with another denim jacket, so that one is in my pile of unused 1/6 clothing.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Good on the neck, thank you. I also prefer neckless most of the time.

That's a nice Raptor claw. Shovel too. I'm thinking to build the shovel/pouch out of parts like an old holster and then something silver resembling a shovel tip. Shouldn't be too hard.

I don't want to snip the long pouch off the Luke belt so likely I'll make the tube-shaped pouch out of clay.

Going through my parts bin today or tomorrow to see what I have for this project.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Awesome shovel and sheath thing! I had no idea you'd been doing that.

Wor-Gar, some kind of cheap arrow pendant might do the trick. If I decide to go with the real look, I'll just go to Hobby Lobby and find something cheap, small, and triangular in the jewelry section. I've found that some of their necklaces are perfect for 1/6 chains.

YES! That's exactly what I was thinking. I even saw a too-small charm of a shovel that's perfect but too small. But yes, that's the idea. Cut the bottom of a holster off to let the 'shovel' peek out and you've got it. Be real nice too with actual silver/chrome to pop.

I guess we're all thinking alike :lol

It's gold at the moment, but I'll be spraying it with chrome paint, so I did a mock up of what it could look like chrome. The shovel part came from some extra earrings my wife had in her stash and the curved handle was from a keychain loop. I sewed the holder from some scrap pleather I had.

Update: Doesn't look like true chrome, but looks good in person:

That's it! Good job! :clap

I think that will look tons better than your original option. Gonna be a bad ass custom Alan Grant. The building is the most fun.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Hey Vash, I had a thought...

Could you sculpt a broken-open dinosaur EGG? Like the one Grant finds below that tree?

I was trying to think of accessories for Grant and all I came up with is a red flare (LED would be nice) and a broken dino egg.
