Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Okay color me interested...

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

I think I see the improvement, very hard to tell in pictures like you say.

One thing that catches my eye now is the eyes. Do they look a little small to anyone? I know Grant squints a lot, but on the sculpt the bottom lids are so rounded that it doesn't look squinted, instead it looks like small eyes. To look squinted, that bottom lid should be longer and straighter across, yes? There is some heavy shadow between nose and eyes on each side so maybe a brighter picture would help.

Here's so ref with big eyes on Grant...

I can't really tell if the eyes are too small, but for some reason, they do look smaller than in the last set of pictures before the changes were made. It must be the lighting as nothing was mentioned about changing the eyes.

Cheek creases are an improvement. Changes to side of face are a little harder to see.

Hector looks like he really wants to move forward with outfit. It figures after I bought all that stuff. I think I want to do two figures anyway, with and without hat. I also bought some glasses so it will be two distinct looks.

@rjszar where did you find the glasses?

Yeah I know, I wish he had responded a couple weeks ago before I got some gear. Not sure its worth Yunsil's time but I would love to get a proper shirt and bandana from her. The rest I think I'm god with. But depending on what's offered and the price I might go with Yunsil as I'm sure it will be superior.

Nice good find. With a bit of work they will look great

Yeah, I'm thinking those don't have lenses. All the ones I've seen look like they don't. There's never any glare on them on in hand pictures.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

I would truly be surprised if they didn't have lenses. These are Iminime, I don't think they would do that, but I'm not 100% sure. Will tell you when I get them.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Well, I guess I will be putting in my own lenses then. No big deal.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

I purchased the 1:6 Hottoys HT Iron Man Tony Golden Sunglasses Glasses F 12" Action Figure
Glasses from ebay and for $8.99 shipped I think it looks really good. It has lenses which I will tint and I'll use gold wire to replace the temples (arms) of the glasses , since the one it is molded with is a bit thick. I'll take some pics this evening.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

The improvements have really brought out the likeness and added life to the piece. It's a joy to watch a talented sculptor's progress on a sculpt. Lovely! :)

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

I got my Iminime glasses a few days ago. As some had stated, they did not come with lenses. Just today I found some smoke colored see through plastic that should make them look great.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

I'm very excited for this project. I was the one to get the Caine sculpt underway but surprisingly I never bought it, I ended up leaving the boards for awhile. Im currently deployed now so my Alan figure from back then is in a box at home. I will definitely be busting it out to slap on this sculpt when I get back.

I had tons of reference photos for Alan but of course they are all back home. I wish I could post them for you guys.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

As far as I know Vash sculpts when he has free time. The project isn't dead, my guess is he's busy or he's waiting to show us something.

Re: Dr. Alan Grant Headsculpt- WIP Added

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I was trying my hand on a couple of other sculptures. Also my two sisters are on summer break from college and I'm being a good older brother and spending my days off with them. I work full time as a heavy equipment operator for the State and I do volunteer work on the weekends, so my free time for my hobbies is limited.

I'm pretty much done with what I'll call version 1 of Alan Grant. I may or may not tweak the sculpt when I do the version with the hat, but I'll get to that once this one is molded and cast, which should be before the end of this month.

All my sculptures so far in 1/6 were not commissioned, but characters that have been suggested to me (by Mudblood for example ;)) that I was in the mood to do and also interested in having in my collection. I haven't been taking any commissions yet since I'm still honing my skills in this scale and I'm having fun just doing characters that I'm fond of.

Anywho, here's where Alan stands at the moment:
