interested in both flight suits and sculpts...this is gonna be an expensive one.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures

I agree with you guys for sure, though in the past my suggestions to Denny have been totally ignored :lol Maybe I just don't know how to properly ingratiate myself. Plus, I don't know if this would be a huge, huge seller for him, and he seems to only want to go after sure-fire hits at this point. --edit: on further thought, I'm not sure I want to go that route right now, as this would probably be a year out at the earliest, and frankly I don't want to wait on all that. If my current plans fall through, I'll e-mail Denny about it--

On another note, I'm realizing that the Magneto from the end of the film shouldn't be too too hard to tailor:

So maybe someone who typically tailors simpler outfits could do it, at a relatively low cost. And the existing sculpt would just need to be painted differently, and to have the little devil's horn emblem thing attached to the front, that I'm sure someone around here could have 3-D printed without too much additional cost. So, I'll look into that option as well if there is enough interest, though I personally don't think I would go for it. I'll go ahead and put beltram down for that one.

Whats the new Magneto costume look like? That one from First Class looks like hes wearing a jacket that 2 sizes too big, and baggy clothes on 1:6 figures just makes it seem as if the tailoring is horrible done.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

Yeah, I don't like it much myself, but the simplicity and fact that it doesn't fit all that tightly is what I think could make it an easy tailoring job. The one from the new film looks like this:

I really like it, but like I posted before, the armor would require separate printed parts, and getting a Charles from that film without a wheel chair isn't really appealing, since he didn't have powers in that state. Plus, I think a Hot Toys version is still a remote possibility.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

I havent seen the film but the DOFP costume looks terrible, that chest armor looks like its made out of cloth. Hoping this is just a brightly lit pic of them filming and not representative of how it looks in the finished film?

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

Yeah that armor kind of reminds me of one of those Halloween t-shirts with like fake muscles on them. I haven't seen the film either though so I might think it looks great in the film.

From this pic just looks like a red blazer just need someone to actually do the cape.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

Could you link to an existing shirt that looks like that? Pants might not be hard to find. If it's just a cape, Tony Mei might be the man for it, though so far not many have shown an interest in that look, so it might not be worth pursuing.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

Yeah, I think that second one would work particularly well, even though it's got buttons.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

I would absolutely want both headsculpts.

Personally I rather want Fassneto in his outfit where he kills the Nazis hiding out in Argentina. As for Charles, his Oxford tweeds are pretty spiffy.

Since I sew, I could potentially offer those outfits, although I tend to get bored with sewing more than 4 or 5 of something.

In terms of the flightsuits, it is just so hard to source custom material outside Hong Kong and to a lesser extent, Korea.

I'm partial to the black turtleneck/leather jacket combo on Erik when Charles convinces him to join the group, though I did absolutely adore that bar scene. Charles in one of his oxford suits works great for me. I actually feel both characters are just "definitive" in their individual style civvie clothes in First Class.

I like the Flight suits, but it seems like in order to make them as accurate as possible (with the little details and bells and whistles), the cost would be really high, and I'm just not sure how much I would be willing to spend on them.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

My favorite Mags scene is definitely the bar with the Nazis. Could make for a pretty sweet display. Maybe you could get a clear plastic stand, and glue a little knife on it, as if it is hanging mid-air.

The path of least resistance to nice looking figures are their civilian outfits in my view.

I could easily be talked into doing the turtleneck-jacket outfit. It might look better as a doll, even though he does not have his 'let me show you my *****in' tattoo' moment in it.

Just 3D sculpting and printing the machined parts on the flight suits would cost a considerable amount.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

I just want a figure of both if its in civilian clothing so be it any word on who is going to sculpt this?

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

I have Sean Dabbs in mind. I'm still looking into his prices. A single sculpt by him is kind of pricey, but I'm hoping he'll give us a bit of a break by going with one sculpt that is a modification of another one.

Star Puffs, feel free to post with your ideas re: custom clothing in this thread for folks who are interested in going that route. But FYI, I have contacted Rainman's/Serang's tailor for the flight suits, and will be checking back in regarding this when her schedule clears up. Probably best if I just lay that out there, so folks can assess their interest based on that.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

I would prefer a real sculptor to a digital sculptor, but I really want both these figures and a Jennifer Lawrence Mystique.

Re: Interest in Classy Mutie Custom Figures--Flight Suits and Black Drapery Options

Do you have someone else in mind, who is good, reliable, and isn't busy with other projects? Dabbs hits likenesses out of the park, which has become my primary concern with figures, no matter how the sculpt comes to be produced. But I do also appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into hand crafted sculpts.
