Oh, well the painted version looks great then! And thanks man, I'm glad I found this thread, because the Comedian is one of my favorite pieces in my collection!

great point.
That is the among the first specifications I look at. I would buy the slow cure since I don't have a vacuum chamber. :(

I was thinking about trying the sample, but I don't have any resin projects right now.

Edit:

When I buy resin, I must buy the slow cure with "Vacuum degassing is not necessary" in specs because I do not have a vacuum chamber.

Sorry about not being clear. The point I was trying to make was:

If the black resin is the proper color of black, very little painting would be required.
This might save time, speed delivery to the customer and there will be no black paint to scratch or flake off, etc.

Here is the result of my experiment with black resin.

It is the first cast that I use to clean little bits out of the mold. After work, I plan to pour another one that should be good enough for me to use.

I needed to make a few for myself. I don't think it is good enough to make for others. (I didn't have a flawless original to mold.)

.

Thats awesome mate!
I think thats its good enough for many here.
Mine has defects too but as you can see once painted or with the harness on it works quite good.
If you can make some available freaks will jump on it :)

Sorry for the slow news guys, i'm gonna contact Dorgmal and see whats cookin'

Thank you.

Very funny..! But so glad this project is finally nearing it's ordering stage! My Comedian has been needing his upgrade armor for too long now! I haven't even bothered to look at it in months in fear of what it now looks like! :slap

I hope we can all place our orders in soon!

If I were to sell some of my castings, I have no idea what to charge. They are not perfect, but at least they will not melt.

I am on a spare time devouring business trip right now. :(

I plan try to finish up one or two completely when I get home.

Simply charge the cost to make them, the material, and some extra for your work. From what i see they do the trick and please fellow freaks.

On my side been busy, and got no reply from dorgmal.
I'll try on facebook where he's more active :)

Yap, sounds like great cost to charge. )))
I'd like to get one. It's not perfect, I don't care. It's not melting - true.

it is great to finally found that someone is working or replacement armor. please put me down for 2 armor sets.

You guys have me thinking about selling some of my castings. I have even tweaked the mold, making the cast a little thicker in some areas. That requires more Dremel/rotary work and sanding but it solved some problems.

When my day job doesn’t have me on business travel or other duties, I try to get caught up on the home repairs or my personal projects.

So I ask you:
Are you guys ok with doing all the “clean-up” on the armor? You would use a rotary tool to grind all the excess resin off, clean it up with Comet/Ajax, heat up the resin and form it to the body. (BE SURE TO HEAT IT UP and do not force the resin.) I do have some that I have cleaned up but have a few more bubbles.

So you are you ok with the bubbles and imperfections in the resin castings, right?

My wife says she can ship these out while I am away.

Olbertfrog, emarae, etc. Thanks so much for your nice comments. :1-1:

I am afraid buyers would not be happy with the little imperfections of my castings, so I’ve decided not to sell mine.

Please send me a PM for more info.

I was trying to help by showing how black resin might work successfully. I don’t want anyone to think I am trying to sell in someone else’s thread.

Absolutely no problem mate.
For the moment I'm too busy to follow thru.
So if you can help fellow freaks be my guest :)
Open another thread if that makes you more comfortable
Just take pictures of the armors and let freaks choose or not to order :)
I'm sure you'll get plenty interest :)
