Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

Good update. I should be getting my Naked Snake body tomorrow. It's amazing how everything is so close to completion.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

It's awesome! I say next we get a game accurate Naked Snake head sculpt. I'll buy two. also would be nice to do a game accurate boss.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

I bought my Naked Snake body for Snake, I'll be getting it in a week or two I gather. Still not sure which to get for Liquid. I might just go out and buy a legit TTM19.

So I just bought the Hot Toys Naked Snake so once I get this Snake in hand I will have every Snake except for MGS2. Frank MGS2 Snake has to happen.

Update:

The 2nd run Snake parts arrived and i shipped them to Pete.

He will be drilling the heads and boots of them all before shipping the unpainted sets back to me.

He will keep the 3 full sets for those who are having them painted, I'm sure he'll be in contact with you soon.

I've not heard anything back from Geewhiz yet about when the clothing set will be finished but when i do i'll let you know the balance payment for that is coming.

On a separate note.

Not sure if you have all started to receive the packages yet, but i had 5 mins to mess around with mine this weekend finally and after going to put the knee and elbow pads on, mine were really loose.

Seems as thought when i cut the lengths of elastic i misjudged the measurement from the first few i cut and shipped and they are all too big/have too much elastic to keep them tight to the limbs. I'm not sure how many are loose but it's my mistake and i apologise for the oversight but there is a quick and relatively easy remedy.

  1. Pull one side of either strap off of the pad (it will take off a bit of the paint at the back but not a big problem as once re glued it will actually stick better to the resin).
  2. Cut off enough of the elastic so once glued back to the pad, it will be tight enough to hold.
  3. Add a little glue to the underside of the pad where the elastic end will be glued to and stick the elastic back down.

You should be able to see on the underside how i stuck the other ends down, the gluing is pretty straight forward - just make sure if you get any glue on your hand not to touch the front of the pad.

This is the glue i used:

The straps aren't too bad. My bigger issue is finding a belt long enough to go around that huge padded waist - all the belts I have tried are too small. I have some more coming in tomorrow.

Also, what is the intention with affixing the boots? Should the legs just rest in them? I put some blu-tak in and they work fine now, but they won't hold without something stuffed in there to help.

Otherwise it is a really fantastic set. I love the vest - it feels really high quality. The figure definitely has a shelf presence.

Not much other to do with the boots other than slot them in with some tack really.

It's a pain i know but with hard resin the pegs wouldn't pop into the peg hole and hold unless it was made slightly bigger which had the same end result with much more effort. If i can find a way to do them in soft material for MGS2 i might upgrade but it'll probably be more expensive to produce.

For the belt i can't remember which belt i bought as it was ages ago now but i found one that was long enough. I had to to super glue each side down at the very end before it threaded back through on itself, which meant i had to put the pouches on the belt before and i had to glue one side while it was still on the vest but unclipped.

Might be a more viable option to buy some webbing in the right width and then cut it, it's what i intended to do before i fitted mine.

here are some close up ones i took quick over the weekend - I've done numerous things to mine though.

Here is 2 different lighted photos to get an idea of what mine looks like in different lighting.
