MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

I never said you were wrong to use it did I?

I said I wasn't using it because it looks too big, which it does on the figure. If that's what you want that's totally fine - it's fine to let others know it looks a bit oversized on the figure too is it not?

The silencers are never that big in game either, just the artwork so not everyone might want an oversized one

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

I find it very close to what you see in the in game model of it.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

I quite like it for what it is, as well. I've also noticed that upon closer inspection, all of the lines and details for Snake's Socom are there.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

You mean the ridged grip sections? They even got the screw section that goes into the trigger guard. I remember that when I had the Airsoft version of it.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

If you or anyone else wants to use the Yamato by all means do so, it's the better sculpted and its more accurate but it looks big for the figure

I was merely letting other members know that it is indeed slightly too big and if that is something that would bother them they can take it into account before coughing up. I believe Jason even said the same thing so obviously some people have a problem with the size of it

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

Regardless of how you feel about the silencer, the Socom is the correct size, man. MK 23s are generally much larger than other 1/6 pistols. I already told Jason - I'm fairly certain that he bashed together the wrong gun from Ebay with spare parts.

It's also getting much, much harder to find 1/6 scale MK 23s on Ebay. It's not like you have a lot of choices out there.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

It's got nothing to do with what i think, it's about what other people might want

Some people might not want a big looking pistol on the figure and they deserve to know that to some it's big beforehand, nothing wrong with that. I can't imagine a parted out Yamato SOCOM being the easiest thing to find or cheapest

Anyways I'm not here to argue, or tell anyone what to do or which parts are wrong or right. You buy your own parts but lets let the advice being given out be concise

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

Parted out is pretty nonexistent. I've never seen one. Now the Yamato Snake is getting expensive. I lucked out and it got the figure for $40 something, thanks to Solidus. Even the Dragon set is getting hard to find.

If you want a game-accurate pistol, you'll have to go with a MK 23 - which happens to be the exact same size as the Yamato Socom. I already mentioned it in the MGS Collectibles thread. I believe that Ryan also said something to the same effect. I have two Dragon MK 23s and they both match up with the Yamato Socom.

You're free to choose whatever gun you want. But, considering that we entered this project for the most game-accurate Snake figure possible, why would you want to cut corners on the gun? :dunno

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

For those this concerns

I've paid Geewhiz the deposit for your suits today. Production time is 6-8 weeks currently, possibility it may come in slightly earlier but I'd stick to the 6-8 weeks they have said.

The parts are on route to me from the caster too.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

And after they get to you, they go to Pete and then back to you to ship them all together, right?

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

Yeah that's right. If the clothing sets arrive first then I'll hold on to it and ship altogether when the parts are ready to save on shipping

When the parts arrive I'll send them to Pete and he will book them in, not sure when exactly yet but I'm sure he will pop in and say or alternatively you can drop him a PM

For those of you going the unpainted route i will be doing the same - unless you want the parts/clothing shipping as soon as they are in hand and are happy paying shipping twice

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

This is a hybrid I made from 3 different Mk23's to come up with this. Pretty happy with it. Terrible cell phone pics but you get the idea...photo3.jpgphoto2.jpg

That's pretty sweet. I recognize the suppressor as the one I posted. The gun is Dragon? Where's the laser from?

I like how you added in the safety red dot.

I have a box full of generic guns with gun parts and the laser sight was in that. I don't know what it is from sorry.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

i have all the parts that maisto has. i bought like 4 different gun sets to finally achieve what he got. solidus, you tell me mines wrong but you didnt see everything i had, unfortunately the most important gun parts im waiting on have been stuck in transit or lost in the mail for over a month now. its very disappointing. i dont think that the art inspired gun look is what i want, from plis's in game shot i think the smaller suppressor looks more like what i see, i just dont like the gun period that comes with the yamato. i sold him recently when i could have kept it but i made my decision.

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

I told you your gun was wrong, because you said it was smaller and fit much better. My point was, it shouldn't be smaller than the Yamato Socom - which is in the correct 1/6 scale. And if you bashed together parts from existing MK 23s, it should be same size as the Yamato one.

And Maistro, that looks pretty awesome!

Re: MGS1: Solid Snake [sdabbs]

just compared what i had to his, its identical so i know you approve now. its all good, my snakes gonna be fantastical, youll see.
